The Tot Spot Early Learning Academy was founded in Chesterfield County, VA in 2021.  The "little academy" for early learners was birthed in response to a need for high-quality, affordable childcare marrying new school approaches with old fashioned values.

Monica Stefano, Founder of The Tot Spot, has dedicated much of

her life to positively impacting the lives of youth.  She has

provided tutoring and mentorship services to at-risk youth

in the Virginia Foster Care System.  For over 7 years, Mrs. Stefano advocated for youth with special needs through writing IEPs and providing individualized classroom instruction to children with emotional disturbances and co-occurring learning disabilities. 

 

In ministry, she helped to facilitate and oversee an afterschool program through her local church in one of Hopewell's toughest neighborhoods. She has also served as a Program Manager for two local Mental Health organizations specializing in helping children overcome the effects of trauma. One of her greatest

and proudest accomplishments was becoming a Therapeutic Foster Parent.  For the past 12 years, she has served children of all ages and ethnic backgrounds, and later adopted 4 of her own.

 

Mrs. Stefano says "As a Christian childcare provider, I feel it is important to address education from a holistic perspective;

meaning that the children should be equipped spiritually and naturally.  Academics are important, but so are character and morals.  Parents should feel safe in knowing that their children

are not being indoctrinated with things that contradict their

belief system."
